Sunnyside Community Hospital & Clinics has acquired Yakima Valley Hearing & Speech Center.
Leaders of the hospital and hearing center have been discussing the move for months, a news release said, noting that the hearing center has struggled financially.
"We are confident that this acquisition will be beneficial for all (the hearing center's) patients and for the entire community of children and adults who have communication and hearing disabilities," said John Gallagher, hospital CEO, in the release.
The hearing center draws more than 16,000 visits a year, with many patients from the Lower Yakima Valley. It's the largest hearing and speech center in the Northwest, the release said.
It will remain at 303 S. 12th Ave. Yakima, while some services expanded at the Sunnyside hospital, the release said.
