Work has started on a new $9.3 million residential facility in Kennewick focused on caring for people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Fieldstone Memory Care will have 48 units, with a central town square with a 1950s-style diner, theater, art studio, serenity room and beauty salon and spa. A ground breaking ceremony was held Thursday.
It's expected to open in late summer 2015, said Doug Ellison, who is opening the facility along with business partner Justin Younker. They also have a Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima.
A 90-unit, $17.5 million assisted care facility also is planned at the same site near Trios Care Center at Vista Field off North Young Street. Construction should start soon, and the facility is expected to open in fall 2015, Ellison said.
"Between both buildings, we'll (bring) about 100 new jobs to Kennewick," he said.
