Walgreens is accepting cash donations from customers looking to support families and individuals whose lives or property has been disrupted by the wildfires in northcentral Washington.
Store employees last weekend began inviting customers to make donations in amounts of $1, $5 and $10. Donations are sent to the American Red Cross, which is providing shelter and food to those affected by the Carlton Complex of fires. The organization also is providing health and mental health services and is distributing trash bags, gloves and masks to people throughout the area.
"Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Washington state who are suffering such devastating losses," said Sue Bandurraga, Walgreens vice president of operations and community management for the Pacific Northwest. "The impact on homes, families, businesses and the natural resources of the area will be felt for a long time to come."
