Five out of 30 Tri-City businesses that were the target of alcohol compliance checks by the Washington State Liquor Control Board failed the check by serving alcohol to minors and were cited.
The minors were working with investigators during the June 13 check and had to present their actual identification or none at all if asked.
Businesses that sold alcohol to a minor were Tagaris Winery, at 844 Tulip Lane in Richland; 3-Eyed Fish, at 1970 Keene Road, Richland; Bonefish Grill, at 133 Gage Blvd., in Richland; Wingstop, at 121 Gage Blvd. in Richland; and Albertson's at 5204 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick.
Depending on the severity of an infraction or the frequency of citations, a business can be fined or have its liquor license temporarily suspended.
