Energy Northwest in Richland has received one of eight Community Service Awards for 2014 from the Association of Washington Business.
The statewide McDonald's Operators Association and AAA also were honored.
Energy Northwest was recognized in the category of Helping People in Need for its gifts to almost 11,000 children in low-income families each Christmas season for more than 30 years. In 2013, it gave more than 800 gifts to 405 children of the Benton-Franklin Head Start program.
In many cases, the gifts were the only ones children received for Christmas, according to the Association of Washington Business.

McDonald's was recognized in the Education category, in part for McTeacher's Nights that have raised more than $250,000 in 20 years.
AAA was recognized for its statewide school safety patrol program in the category of Recognizing Volunteerism.
