There's a new sandwich shop in Kennewick, one that's not part of a national chain. Graze opened March 12 on Gage Boulevard.
The dine in/takeout restaurant features freshly made sandwiches, salads, soups and other light fare.
"We have a fair amount of vegetarian options on the menu. We try to treat them (vegetarians) well," said co-owner John Lastoskie of Walla Walla.
Their focus is on buying local, serving fresh.

"When things start popping out of the ground we'll be using as much local produce as we can," he said.
Lastoskie and his wife, Becca, opened their first business, Graze Catering, in Walla Walla in 2006. They added a Graze sandwich shop in 2009 and a drive-through a year later.
The Kennewick restaurant is their first venture into the Tri-Cities.
"Our goal is to have more sandwich shops than Subway. Walla Walla is pretty small, there's only 50,000 people in the county. We told ourselves if we want to grow, we'll need to find more people, so we thought to try our hand over here," he said.
The new sandwich ship is family friendly. As Lastoskie pointed out, there aren't too many rules in a sandwich shop. There's even a place for children to draw in a back corner.
Graze can accommodate about 32 people. Prices range from $6.75 for a vegetarian salad, while most sandwiches are in the $8.95 range.
"Our meals are a bit more expensive than the major sandwich chains, but they're a heck of a lot more wholesome. What you see is what you get," Lastoskie said.
"We make pretty much everything in-house. We do our sauces ourselves, the meats we roast in our kitchen."
While the Walla Walla sandwich shop offers a limited selection of bottled beer and wine, the Kennewick shop has just soft drinks for now.
"We plan to add beer and wine but haven't completed the liquor license paperwork yet," he said.
The Lastoskies employ eight people in the Kennewick restaurant, and 16-18 at their three Walla Walla locations.
Graze is at 8530 W. Gage Blvd., across from Costco. Hungry diners can call in orders for pickup, the business phone is 221-1020. Delivery is available for large groups.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
