The fences are up, the construction equipment is moving in and by the end of the year a longtime Kennewick car dealership will have a much overdue facelift.
"The facilities are old and dated," said Frank Boasen, general manager of Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge on Canal Drive.
The remodeling and expansion project is valued at $1.7 million, according to the building permit filed with the city. The general contractor is Chervenell Construction of Kennewick.
Boasen started in his new position last week. "I'm a hometown boy. I'm a Bomber and grew up in Richland," said Boasen, who has worked for various Lithia dealerships for years, most recently in Alaska.
Never miss a local story.
In Alaska, he supervised the remodeling of one of Lithia's Mini/BMW dealerships. Then, last year he guided the building of another, new, Lithia Mini showroom and car lot.
Now, he said he's ready to tackle another remodel and expansion.
"This one will be done in phases. We won't be closing," he said.
The first phase is extending the service department so they can accommodate larger trucks and more of them at one time, Boasen said.
Later, the front offices and showroom also will be renovated.
