Seattle restaurant Canlis will receive the Restaurant Appreciation Award from the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers during the convention this week at Kennewick’s Three Rivers Convention Center.
The “Comfort Greek” restaurant was nominated by growers and wineries because of how their wine list features Washington state wines.
“Through our 63 year-old wine list, we have an incredible platform to showcase an unbelievable selection of Washington wines,” said Ellen Kutscher of Canlis in a statement. “We hope to celebrate and honor the talents of our state's vintners and believe that the rapid growth of the industry and the unique terroir of our numerous appellations demand attention and a spotlight on our list.”
Canlis reportedly has one of the finest cellars in the world with more than 18,000 bottles of 2,500 selections with five sommeliers. In 1997, the restaurant was named Seattle’s wine destination and received the first of its sixteen consecutive Wine Spectator Magazine Grand Awards.
