There's a new menu and culinary team at Gordon Estate Wine Bar in Pasco.
When winery owners Jeff and Vicki Gordon of Pasco opened the wine bar eight months ago at Broadmoor Square in Pasco, they were confident the population explosion in the Tri-Cities would support another wine bar and tasting room, especially one that offers live music and savory snacks to go along with the winery's award-winning vintages.
But what surprised them was the number of people asking for a full dinner menu.
"Our location draws from all three of the Tri-Cities, and the number of people who came in and wanted to order a full dinner was not something we could ignore," said Jeff Gordon.
Working toward that goal, the Gordons hired Ryan Retana of Seattle to be their executive chef and general manager about six months ago.
Retana said he's been cooking since he was 14 and gleaned much of his knowledge from his godfather, who's a chef. He honed his culinary expertise on the job, working in Seattle restaurants.
A few months ago, the Gordons hired Marcus Todd, who has 10 years of experience working in commercial kitchens in the Tri-Cities, to be the chef de cuisine.
Together, Retana and Todd have been reworking the menu, adding dinner options, like a brine-soaked pork chop served with polenta and seasonal greens.
"We're going to keep the menu seasonal and focus on all the awesome foods produced in this area," Retana said.
The menu will feature a fusion of Asian, French, Middle Eastern and American foods and seasonings.
They're also adding a special reservations-only wine dinner called The Taste. The two chefs, along with Gordon Estate winemaker Tim Henley, will develop a six-course meal with each of the dishes matched to the winery's vintages.
Seating for The Taste is limited to 16. Cost will be $185 to $195 per person.
Wine bar hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
