The Better Business Bureau is warning about the potential for fake Seahawk tickets during the NFL playoffs.
Ticket resellers are already swinging deals such as $14,000 tickets with football fans, according to the BBB.
“Whether you’re trying to make it to Saturday’s playoff game, or betting on Seattle making it to the Super Bowl, know the investment will be substantial,” said Chelsea Maguire, director of communications for the BBB serving Eastern Washington, North Idaho and Montana. “Be extremely cautious when buying from third party sellers. Last minute deals may lead to a major financial loss if it’s a scam.”
BBB advises that fans be on the look out for fake tickets. Suggestions include watching for flimsy paper, smeared ink and uneven margins. Fans also should use reliable and verifiable ticket sellers and resellers that hold vendors responsible for ticket authenticity, according to the BBB.
In addition, never wire funds, according to the BBB. Instead, use credit cards online so that the charges can be disputed if the tickets don’t arrive or end up fake.
Also, avoid sellers who do not provide contact information or prefer to conduct transactions privately, according to the BBB.
