-- Fred Meyer customers and employees of the Tri-City area donated more than $347,000 to support area charities. The donations, collected from the coin boxes sitting at area Fred Meyer checkstands, were given to the Fred Meyer Fund, a corporate foundation which distributes all donations to a variety of nonprofits in the community. Much of the donations made from the Tri-City area were given to local organizations involved in youth development, military family support, cancer research and awareness and hunger reduction.
-- Patty Jones, a planned giving and outreach specialist for the CBC Foundation, has become one of the first in the nation to become a certified independent legacy navigator for ethical wills and legacy letters. The Legacy Navigator program was established by Celebration of Life Inc. to aid baby boomers and seniors in financial planning. Jones conducts workshops and coaching sessions to help individuals and families define and share their values for loved ones and future generations. She also coordinates the preservation of each client's ethical will/legacy letter through professionally prepared documents, published books and other media.
