The Port of Pasco recently decided to hire Bouten Construction Co. as the General Contractor/Construction Manager for the almost $36 million expansion of the Tri-Cities Airport.
Bouten was one of three finalists for the position, which port officials have said will help the port keep the airport running during construction.
Port officials will negotiate a contract with Bouten for design assistance on the project, according to a news release. A separate construction contract will be negotiated when the project is ready to bid the project, likely in early 2014.
The proposed conceptual design for the terminal expansion includes moving the staircase and restrooms to the front of the building to open up the area near the security checkpoint. Security, ticketing and baggage areas also would be expanded.
A new concourse beyond the security area would feature a view of the airfield, with gates to the right and left.
The port is in the design phase of the project. Officials hope to be able to complete the renovation of the terminal in one phase.
