Asparagus harvest is drawing to a close in the Mid-Columbia.
A few farmers still were harvesting this week but most had finished.
Gary Larsen of Larsen Farms north of Pasco said it was a good year for asparagus, with average yields and prices that were strong for most of the season.
A few farmers had some difficulties finding enough workers, but Larsen said he was able to find enough to bring in his crop.
There are 5,000 or so acres planted within a 60-mile radius of the Tri-Cities.
Last year, about 4,700 acres of asparagus was harvested in Washington. It was worth about $18.2 million, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
