The brick building on the corner of Washington Street and Columbia Drive in downtown Kennewick that has stood empty for many months is getting a new tenant.
Nate Frary, who already has two Dutch Bros. Coffee franchises in Kennewick, will be opening a third in the former Harrington Home Medical building, which once included a drive-up coffee window.
The rest of the 6,400-square-foot building he's leasing will be used for office space, a training area and a maintenance shop/warehouse, Frary said.
There will be no inside seating. Only two Dutch Bros. Coffee shops offer that, the one in Grants Pass, Ore., the company's headquarters, and the one in Corvallis, Ore.
Never miss a local story.
The building is being remodeled by G2 Commercial Construction in Kennewick, and Frary expects the drive-through to open at the end of January or early in February.
Frary opened his first Dutch Bros. Coffee drive-through in June 2007 on Clearwater Avenue and the second in July 2001 on Columbia Center Boulevard.
He plans to add about nine new employees to the 22 who are working at the other two shops.
"I'm really excited about bringing Dutch Bros. to the downtown area of Kennewick. I feel we'll be a great addition to the area," he said.
Dutch Bros. coffee stores are open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
