Federal Engineers and Constructors of Richland has received two statewide safety awards from the Associated General Contractors of America.
It received a "Safety and Claims Management Excellence" award and an "As Low As you Can Go" award for its low number of state Labor and Industries disability claims.
It has a 2012 experience modification rate of 0.6, the best safety record that can be achieved by a business of its size, and indicates no state claims with disability benefits for the past three fiscal years.
"Federal Engineers and Contractors, Inc., is to be congratulated as a firm performing hazardous work while maintaining an excellent safety and claim performance record," Doug Stewart, chief underwriting officer at the state L&I office, said in a statement.
Federal Engineers and Constructors does construction and environmental cleanup work at Hanford. Employees are included in work planning, hazard identification processes and safety improvement teams in a top-down approach from upper management to craft workers, according to the company.
