Tyson Foods was named one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility magazine recently.
The company, which has a meat-packing plant in Wallula, was ranked 90 on the 13th annual list. The list is based on climate change, employee relations, environment, financial, corporate governance, human rights and philanthropy.
Tyson Foods officials say part of the reason the company received the award is because of its food donations. In September 2011, it celebrated 11 years of involvement in hunger relief and has donated more than 86 million pounds of protein during that time, according to a news release.
