Sewing has been Betty Jean Overstreet's passion for decades. But since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and beginning chemotherapy last year, she has been unable to run her beloved Kennewick quilt shop, Stitch N Bug.
At the end of April, the shop will close for good. A liquidation sale begins today.
For several months, friends and family have been keeping the doors open.
Lisa Steele, who rents space in Overstreet's building and owns Pipsqueaks, a children's boutique, completed the back orders for leather repairs when Overstreet first was diagnosed.
Never miss a local story.
Since then, Overstreet has given Steele that part of her business.
Janet Garcia, who has been doing long-arm quilting orders for Overstreet, will continue with that part of Overstreet's business.
