KENNEWICK — The founder of “Nerd Girls” will speak at the Tri-Cities Engineers Week banquet Feb. 24 in Kennewick.
Karen Panetta created the Nerd Girls program, in which undergraduate engineers research renewable energy topics and serve as role models for younger students. She is a professor and director of the Simulation Research Laboratory at Tufts University in Massachusetts and is a fellow in a NASA program.
The 2011 Tri-Cities Engineer of the Year also will be announced at the program. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel, 101 N. Columbia Center Blvd.
Tickets cost $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight.
