Customers of Cascade Natural Gas could see their bills drop this winter because of lower natural gas costs.
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission approved the company's request to reduce natural gas rates for residential customers by 7 percent and for commercial customers by 7.5 percent. The change takes effect Friday.
Natural gas companies are required to adjust rates at least every 15 months to reflect changes in wholesale prices. About two-thirds of a Cascade customer's monthly bill is the cost of natural gas.
The average residential customer will save about $4.16 a month and the typical business customer will save about $20.95 a month, according to Cascade.
