Save-A-Lot Foods in Pasco plans to close this weekend, said a store spokeswoman Tuesday morning.
The licensee of the local store is closing the outlet at 2109 W. Court St. because the "store wasn't performing to expectations," said Chon Tomlin, with Save-A-Lot's corporate headquarters in St. Louis.
The store is scheduled to close Saturday but if it still has nonperishable grocery items, it may open Sunday as well to sell those items, Tomlin said.
She said the store has about 10 employees who will lose their jobs. Most of them are part-time workers, she said.
Save-A-Lot has about 1,300 stores in 40 states. Some stores are owned by the corporation and some are owned by licensees.
The stores specialize in offering merchandise in a limited number of brand names to help keep consumer costs low, Tomlin said.
Save-A-Lot is a wholly owned subsidiary of SuperValu Inc.
