Two Pasco farmers have been honored by the National Corn Growers Association for their production in the 2009 National Corn Yield Contest.
Michael Haverkamp placed second in the nation in the irrigated class with a yield of 324.7 bushels per acre, said the association. And Todd and Dalas Harris placed third in Washington in the irrigated class with a yield of 265.8 bushels per acre, the association said.
A record 6,958 growers from 46 states entered the competition. The average yield among national winners was 306.7 bushels per acre, the association said.
