Employees at the Hanford vitrification plant project offices have reached more than 16 million hours without an injury that resulted in a lost workday.
It's been more than five years since a contractor or subcontractor employee in the project offices had a lost-workday injury. More than 1,500 engineers and other professionals work in vit plant offices, most of them in Richland but a couple hundred in California and Maryland.
About 3,400 employees compose the vit plant workforce, including 1,900 on the construction site. Together they have worked 4 million hours without an injury resulting in a lost workday, according to Bechtel National.
