PASCO -- The Port of Pasco's Riverfront Business Park now has a name: Osprey Pointe.
Port commissioners selected the new name Thursday to better represent the 125-acre site along the Columbia River in Pasco.
The osprey, one of the largest birds of prey in North America, are common near large bodies of water at lower elevations throughout Washington, officials said.
"We actually have an osprey nesting platform on the site of the new business park that annually hosts a family. It is delightful to watch the birds come every year and hatch their young. It makes the name Osprey Pointe even more meaningful to those of us at the port, and we know it will for our future tenants," said commission President Jim Klindworth.
The port has approved a master plan to promote mixed-use development at the business park with amenities including a riverfront trail.
