I recently read a quote that said, “Be the kind of woman that when you wake up and your feet hit the floor, the devil says, ‘Oh, no, she’s up!’ ”
Every day as I’ve looked forward to Easter, I have wanted it to be about my loving Heavenly Father. And with his help in my life, he would be saying, “Oh great! She’s up and being a blessing in simple, yet powerful, ways to those she comes in contact with.”
It is extremely rewarding to put into action that very simple statement. Focusing on it has helped make me so aware of all I think, all I say, and all I do throughout my day. This has helped me become determined to make this the most meaningful Easter season I have ever experienced.
So many times we can get distracted about lots of other things and miss the real meaning of Easter.
Each morning I have been reading the day’s message from an Easter devotional journal. It has given me a much deeper experience of the events which led up to Easter and their meaning now in my life. Every day, I have continued toward experiencing the joyful celebration. The journal states that during this season of Lent, preparing for Easter is not required, but we have an option to give up something we enjoy for 40 days in order to focus more on God.
This year, I decided I would give up eating bananas for 40 days. I love bananas! In fact, I have been known to eat up to six bananas a day and then go to Albertson’s just to buy a banana. So, this Easter my decision has given me more time to focus on Jesus.
Maybe one of the most famous verses in the Bible is John 3:16. “God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” These few words tell the whole story of who Jesus is, how he loves us, and that we can have life forever with him. While reading this verse, I focus on God’s great love for me — and everyone else — and how it can become powerfully real.
The Gospel of Luke in chapters 22 through 24 record possibly the most marvelous words Jesus ever spoke while he was facing death. I have taken them with me every day as I’ve prepared for Easter, never forgetting what they teach about his great love.
This weekend, let’s focus on this awesome Easter picture of Jesus’ great love for you, for me, for everyone. And let’s be the kind of person that lives a life that could have the devil saying, “Oh, no. They're celebrating the true meaning of Easter.”
