Over the holiday break, I decided to make my own powdered laundry soap. This quick and super easy recipe will save you money time and time again! I bought all my items at Walmart, but surely the items can be found at just about any retailer, and it took me a total of about 20 minutes. You will need:
Fels Naptha Soap (bar) $.99 ea.
Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (in a box—not the same as baking soda) $3
Borax (box) $3
Optional: Smell-good extract
Recipe for about six months worth of detergent for a family of 4
Stir together with wire wisk:
8 cups of washing soda
6 cups Borax
4 cups bar soap, one bar makes about 2 cups. *Optional 1 tablespoon of smell-good essential oil.*
Grated on cheese grater. Hint: for powder-like soap put shavings in electric mixer on grade mode for 30 seconds.
Use 1/8 cup per load. Store in a cute glass dish!
