WALLA WALLA -- Eight remodeled or new kitchens in homes dating from the late 1800s through 2008 will be part of the 10th annual American Association of University Women annual kitchen tour on Oct. 7.
Many of the older homes have been remodeled to reflect the historic character of the house, while also creating more efficient kitchens.
The tour runs from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and available at Jacobi's Cafe, 416 N. Second Ave., on the day of the tour, which is Sunday.
Tickets can also be bought at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/252189.
This year's tour features two raffle items. Artist Elizabeth Harris Matschukat has donated an original kitchen-themed painting, and Charlotte Roberts, whose kitchen is among those being featured, is offering a "Cowboy Cook-off Dinner" for eight to be held at her Russell Creek Ranch. The painting can be seen, and tickets for both raffles can be bought at Sweetwater Paper & Home, 101 E. Alder St.
The tour begins at Jacobi's Cafe, 416 N. Second Ave., between noon and 2 p.m. It is a self-guided tour.
Proceeds benefit AAUW scholarships and local educational projects.
