FINLEY -- River View High School's FFA chapter is holding its 19th annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday at the school's greenhouses.
Available plants including bedding bloomers, vegetables, hanging baskets, color bowls, perennials, and more with proceeds going toward student FFA activities and the expansion of the agriculture program at RVHS.
All plants are grown by FFA members in the horticulture class.
In addition, Finley FFA and the River View High School agriculture mechanics classes are doing lawnmower maintenance as a fundraiser.

The cost for an oil change, new air filter and spark plug and blade sharpening is $35 for push mowers and $50 for riding mowers.

Basin Bloomers to hold plan sale Saturday
KENNEWICK -- The Basin Bloomers Garden Club is holding a plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 2221 S. Rainier St., Kennewick.
Club members will be on site to help gardeners choose from their selection of sun and shade perennials, flowering shrubs, house plants and other interesting plants.
Design judge to give tips on rose arrangements
Linda Kerkof, longtime arrangement and design judge will discuss the basics of using roses in flower arrangements will be the speaker at the Tri-City Rose Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
She'll present examples in traditional, modern and oriental design for those who want to learn or who are interested in entering the TCRS show scheduled June 6 in Richland.
The meeting will be at the Richland City Shops, 2700 Duportail St. Directions: Drive toward Pendleton and Yakima on Interstate 182, take the Queensgate Drive exit 3B and go past Walmart, through the light and turn right. At the shops, go in the double glass doors at the front.

Blue Mountain gardeners to hold 2-day yard sale
RICHLAND -- Garden club members in the Blue Mountain District will hold a yard sale with plants, bulbs, shrubs, small tree starts, gardening tools and garden books from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1 at 2415 Olympia St., Richland.
Proceeds will be used to help support scholarships and beautification in the Mid-Columbia.
Master Gardeners offer demonstration day
HERMISTON -- Is it time to plant? What should I plant? Where should I plant? So many decisions, and so many possibilities.
To help the Oregon State University Extension Master Gardeners are holding a Community Planting Demonstration Day from 10 a.m. to noon May 8 at the Hermiston Agriculture Research and Extension Center, 2121 First St., Hermiston.
They will teach how to transplant seedlings, transplanting into containers, and direct seeding into the garden plus garden bed preparation, drip irrigation and mulching methods. They'll also include tips on how to layout and plan a garden for all seasons.

Richland offers rebates for ductless heat pumps
RICHLAND -- Richland's Energy Services Department is offering a $1,500 utility incentive to all-electric, single-family homes that install ductless heat pumps before Sept. 30.
The Northwest Ductless Heat Pump Pilot Program uses qualified contractors and technicians to install the devices.
The project is currently not available for homes that have gas meters.
