A new farmers market is opening Sunday in Richland.
The 3 Eyed Fish Farmers Market will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 24.
Vendors will set up in the parking lot at Queensgate Village, 1970 Keene Road, Richland.
"We hope it will be a convenient stop for people," said Tracy Pennington, one of the organizers. "We chose Sunday because there are so many other markets on Saturday and during the week that it seemed like a good day. So many people say they work on Fridays or their kids have sports on Saturdays so they never get to the market."

Shoppers can expect to find vendors selling cherries, blueberries, rhubarb, lettuce, honey and veggies. There are also some crafters signed up.
"It should be a great all-around market," she said.

If you have a dynamite salsa recipe that's pungent with onion, or a recipe for some type of baked good or side dish featuring sweet onions, head to Walla Walla on Saturday.
The Walla Walla Sweet Onion Festival is featuring three cooking contests this year, and winners will receive a free bag of Walla Walla Sweets to take home.
Each entry must include Walla Walla Sweet Onions as a prominent component.
The salsa competition will be at 11:30 a.m., the baked goods at 12:30 p.m. and the side dishes at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets for the annual Prosser Wine and Food Fair on Aug. 9 are on sale.
The fair features wines from 30 Washington wineries, foods from 20 restaurants and caterers and beers from two Mid-Columbia breweries.
Tickets are $25 per person if bought ahead of time or $30 the day of the event.
The event will be held at the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center, 2140 Wine Country Road, Prosser.
