Head for Walla Walla this week, and you'll have a chance to mingle with ballerinas, sip some fine wines and sample tasty foods.
On Thursday, the Walla Walla Wine Alliance is celebrating its 30th anniversary at the Gesa Power House Theater.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., a group of the Mid-Columbia's most outstanding pioneer winemakers will discuss how the Walla Walla Valley grew from a handful of wineries to almost 70 over three decades.
Gary Figgins of Leonetti Cellar, Rick Small of Woodward Canyon and Marty Clubb of L'Ecole No. 41 are three of the six who will share their stories during the evening.
Then, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., you'll have a chance to sample vintages from 12 Walla Walla wineries.

On Saturday, the Performing Company will hold an all-day fundraiser, Tutus and Tapas, to help pay for their upcoming trip to Europe.
The ballerinas -- all from Walla Walla and Pendleton -- will be at the Gesa Power House Theatre in Walla Walla from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The event will feature dance classes for young dancers, a cookie decorating class, fashion show, wine and appetizers, and a tutu auction. Cost is $25.

The Food and Drug Administration's announcement a few weeks ago about updating the Nutrition Facts label has dietitians dancing.
In a news release from Glenna McCollum, president of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics wrote "this is a big win for consumers ... the changes are long overdue."
The FDA's announcement comes almost 20 years after the nutrition facts panel was introduced and a lot has changed throughout the years.
"The new changes are based on science, and they take people's actual eating behavior into account. Serving sizes for many products have been updated to realistically reflect the amounts people actually eat at one sitting," McCollum wrote.
It's about time. After all, who really limits themselves to a half-cup of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream?
