Lentils, love them or hate them, they're the star of Pullman's annual festival Aug. 17-18. There will be lots of lentil dishes to sample, a lentil pancake breakfast, parade, music and, best of all, the legendary lentil cook-off with a grand prize of $1,000.
The recipes will be pre-screened in July, with the top six prepared and served during the festival. The public will judge each of the recipes at 2 p.m. Aug. 18.
Recipes need to be original, creative and easy to prepare. Dishes will be rated on appearance, flavor, aroma and texture. Each recipe must include at least a half-cup of raw lentils or one cup cooked lentils.
The deadline to enter is July 2.
Never miss a local story.
