Jaxon Dean of Delta High School and Reegan Moll of St. Joseph’s Catholic School were among 22 students selected to serve as Senate pages during the seventh week of the 2015 legislative session. Jaxon and Reegan spent a week working in the Legislature in Olympia.
Participants attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process, spend time in the Senate chamber, draft their own bills and engage in a mock session. Some of their responsibilities as pages include transporting documents between offices and delivering messages and mail.
“I was really interested in how the government works and I thought this would be a good opportunity for me,” Jaxon said. “My favorite part is working in the legislative building. Running errands for the senators has been really fun.”
“I had already learned about most of the legislative process, and I wanted to see it in real-life action,” Reegan said.
They were sponsored by 8th Legislative District Sen. Sharon Brown, R-Kennewick.
Dean, 16, is the son of Tracey and Tim Dean of Kennewick.
Reegan, 14, is the daughter of Kevin Moll and Nancy Milliken of Kennewick.
