Tracie Welliver, 39, of Richland, is one of three winners of Job-Applications.com’s $1,000 national Working Parent Scholarship.
"I was going to have to postpone going to school because of financial hardship. When I got the news that I had won the scholarship contest, I almost cried," said Welliver, a student at Columbia Basin College. "This scholarship will allow me to continue my education without hurting my family financially."
Welliver, who has four boys, ages 9 to 17, currently works in management and is pursuing a business degree.
Applicants submitted a 600 to 1,000 word essay outlining three keys to successfully balancing of parenthood, work and excelling in school.
