-- Cadets from the Walla Walla High School JROTC program recently traveled to Redmond, Ore., to compete at a drill and marksmanship meet and returned home with several team and individual honors.
The dual unarmed exhibition drill team of cadet Maj. Sara Beko and c/first Lt. Mattie Bialozor won first place; c/1st Lt. Paige Jones and c/1st Lt. Kristen Chavre took third.
Color guard team No. 2 commander, c/Capt. Allison Shrouf, captured an individual first place.
The armed drill team took fifth overall and Bialozor, their commander took an individual fourth. C/Sgt. Evan Lockwood finished third in unarmed drill down, while Command Sgt. Maj. Kurtis Crump brought home fifth place for individual armed exhibition drill and the unarmed drill team led by Beko finished sixth.
In the marksmanship category, the precision team came in first, with four teams competing, and sporter team finished third out of 16. Individual awards went to c/Master Sgt. Sarah Jameson, precision, first place, c/Master Sgt. Makenna French, sporter team sharpshooter category, third place, and c/Cpl Chandra Kelley brought home first in the sporter team marksman category.
