Vernie and Don Knoepfel of Gig Harbor celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 16 at the Canterwood Country Club in Gig Harbor.
They were married June 16, 1962, at the First Congregational Church in Everett. The moved to Moses Lake in 1968 and then to Kennewick in 1972. They lived in Kennewick for 38 years before moving to Gig Harbor in 2010.
Vernie was the secretary to the vice president and manager of the Law Division of Washington Title Insurance Company in Seattle and then worked for United Nuclear Industries and Westinghouse Hanford Company. She retired in 1996 from Westinghouse Hanford Company.
Her memberships included serving as president of Seattle Legal Secretaries Association; president of the Womens Social Division at the Tri-City Country Club; in the Moses Lake Lady Lions; in the Spaulding Chapter of Children's Orthopedic Hospital Guild; and in the Federated Womens Club.
Don was a title officer with Washington Title Insurance Company in Everett and Seattle; vice president and Manager of Title Guaranty Company of Grant County; vice president and manager of Land Title Company of Benton and Franklin Counties; title officer with Transamerica Title Insurance Company, Ticor Title Insurance Company, Benton Franklin Title Insurance Company and retired as senior title officer with Chicago Title Insurance Company, completing a 50-year career in the title insurance industry. He retired in 2010 from Chicago Title Insurance Company.
He was a member of the Naval Reserve; Everett Jaycees; Moses Lake Lions Club; Elks; Moses Lake Golf and Country Club and Tri-City Country Club.
They have one daughter, Lisa Culbert (Kevin) of Gig Harbor.
They have two grandchildren.
