Annamay and Harold Mathews of Richland celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary May 12 with a cake reception at Columbia Point Marina in Richland.
They were married May 10, 1942, in Moscow, Idaho. They moved to the Mid-Columbia from Anatone in 1956.
Annamay volunteered for church bible studies, at nursing homes, at Allied Arts and as a private church school secretary.
Harold was a teacher in Anatone, a teacher and principal at Finley High School until 1968, and a teacher and principal at Riverview Baptist Christian School until 1978. He was a Franklin County commissioner from 1978-92. After his retirement he volunteered at Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco.

They have six children, Harold "Neal" Mathews II of Oysterville; William Corey of Hayden Lake, Idaho; John Mathews Sr. of Kennewick; James Mathews Sr. of Pasco; Thomas Matthews of Pasco and Connie Poorman of Minnesota.
They have 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
