Karen and Michael Gilchrist
Karen and Michael Gilchrist of Richland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3 at Temple Baptist Church in Richland.
They were married on July 2, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Richland.
Karen was born in Springfield, Ohio, and graduated from Springfield South in 1962. She moved to Richland with her mother that year and met Michael in the youth group at First Baptist Church in Richland. She attended Columbia Basin College and Richland Beauty School. Karen has been well known locally and nationally as a top Tupperware sales person and manager for 50 years. She retired from Tupperware in 2016. She has served alongside her husband since he entered the ministry in 1968. She has been involved in music, as well as the children’s and ladies’ ministries.
Michael was born in Staples, Minn., grew up in Richland and graduated from Columbia (Richland) High School in 1962. He attended theological colleges in Nebraska, Michigan and California, earning a doctorate of pastoral ministries. Michael has pastored several churches in Washington and Oregon. He is also the founding pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Richland, where he serves in pastoral and teaching ministries. He has led several trips to Israel and the Holy Land with church members.
They have two children, Matthew (Deana) Gilchrist of Boise and Dana Gilchrist of Edmonds.
