There has been a lot written about the blue bridge interchange project. However, has anyone noticed how dangerous it has become to merge from Highway 240 onto northbound Highway 395?
The entrance speed is 35 mph merging into 45 mph traffic, the sign gives the impression of a free lane dedicated to Highway 240 traffic, and the lane design has made it almost impossible to see northbound traffic because you have to look to your right and behind you to see if you can merge.
In the Herald, I read that there was an accident at this site. How many more accidents will there be because of poor design? This issue needs to be addressed, and a dedicated lane needs to be attached to merging Highway 240 traffic and away from the northbound Highway 395 traffic. Please contact the state Department of Transportation engineers in Richland and request a solution to this problem.
