When voting for this initiative please consider what and who this will affect in our state and local communities. Please ask yourself if you will ever use the social system in Washington or have a loved one who does or will.
In the last budget, deep cuts were made to the social system. Individuals with developmental disabilities and seniors have felt it. Service providers too have been dealing with less funding to help these people. This initiative will cause these same people to feel more cuts and go without services needed to live, work and play in their communities. I personally can't live with this consequence; it hurts the individuals who need support in place to continue to be part of society.
As taxpayers, we should be taking care of these individuals. If the initiative passes, the cost to care for them will go up, costing the state more because of the difficult decisions families will need to make about their loved ones. I don't like taxes any more than anyone else, but this is our responsibility as human beings.
Vote NO on I-1033. It's the right thing to do!
