16th District: Grant

Voters in the 16th Legislative District should keep in mind that nearly 70 percent of the state budget goes for public education. It is obvious to many of us that someone with a lot of experience in public education would be extremely well qualified to make decisions on, provide input for and know what effect the laws the Legislature passes will have on the children of the district. Such a qualified individual is the incumbent on the ballot, Rep. Laura Grant.

It will certainly help that she is of the majority party in the state of Washington. Although the Republican Party is an anemic minority in Washington, Laura Grant was actually selected to fill the seat of her late father by an ad hoc committee of Republican county commissioners. You can't get much more bipartisan than that.

Being able to speak clearly to the leaders of the Democratic Party, as well as to the many influential friends of her late father, will increase her heft in the Legislature. Grant is no pushover for the WEA either, demonstrating her ability to think and act for the greater good of the district she so ably represents. Elect Laura Grant to the Legislature.
