KSD: Adams, Kintzley

Uby Creek's supporters are trying to win this election by making much ado about the fact that Heather Kintzley is Dawn Adams' niece (Robert Haug letter, Oct. 18). Instead of talking about the issues, Creek is trying to convince the voters that Heather is nothing more than a mirror image of her aunt with no mind of her own. Allow me to set the record straight.

I've met Dawn Adams, and I find her to be an intelligent, accomplished woman. The school district has thrived academically while Dawn has been on the board. Apparently, Adams, Fielding and Mildon have been doing something right, and our students have been well-served by their emphasis on reading. Given her success in this role, Adams deserves another four years on the board.

I know Heather Kintzley very well. Heather is intelligent, articulate and outspoken. Further, Heather is not afraid to support an unfavorable position if logic and reason call for it. It's no surprise that Adams and Kintzley are like-minded; they are both intelligent, educated, professional women. But they don't agree on everything. If elected, Heather will speak for herself.

This election is about the issues, not about family connections. Join me in voting Adams and Kintzley.

GEORGE JONES, Kennewick
