I-1033: No

I have been a fourth-grade teacher in Kennewick for 20 years. I have never written a letter to the editor before, but my deep concern about Tim Eyman's I-1033 has forced me to act. I-1033 threatens education, health care and other basic services.

The Washington Office of Financial Management says that: "... the initiative reduces state general fund revenues that support education; social, health and environmental services; and general activities by an estimated $5.9 billion by 2015."

In 1992, Colorado became the only state in the nation to impose a revenue limit like the one in Tim Eyman's I-1033. Funding for K-12 education plummeted, dropping Colorado to 49th in the nation in education funding. Let's not follow in Colorado's footsteps.

Please vote no on Tim Eyman's I-1033.

TERI STAUDINGER, Pasco
