Hilton's rights violated

Why does the Herald repeatedly reduce the trampling of Kevin Hilton's constitutional rights to a mere technicality, as you did in the year-end recap of 2008's top stories?

If the Herald's team of investigative reporters would take time to review the facts, they'd see that they reveal the illegal warrant was developed/ approved by a senior detective, judge and prosecutor who were found to have violated Hilton's constitutional rights when they:

1) Ordered the court to seal the search warrant affidavit. This affidavit was the only documentation the courts had to meet the particularity requirement of the Fourth Amendment, yet they chose to seal it?

2) Added deliberate language stating they wanted to hide from the defendant the items they wished to seize from his home.

Appellate justices took no time in ruling on the illegal warrant, proving it was no technicality (this was clearly expressed in their written opinion and at oral argument of appeal).

I paid $400 for Hilton's case paperwork. After reviewing every page, I can honestly say what they call an investigation of a double homicide was far less than that.
