A five-car crash on the blue bridge at 5:28 p.m. Monday was caused by cars following too closely, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A red four-door passenger car was southbound on the bridge and slowed for traffic when it was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Michael Mayfield, 62, of Pasco, according to police reports. Then a Chevrolet Impala driven by Michael Warner, 30, of Kennewick, hit Mayfield’s car.
A Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Hidrolinda Chavez Juarez, 25, of Kennewick, hit Warner’s car, and a Jeep Commander driven by William Sauter, 20, of Lyle, hit Chavez Juarez’s car, according to police reports.
The driver of the first car that slowed for traffic left the scene. Chavez Juarez was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center as a precaution but no other injuries were reported.
