The Richland City Council plans to spend nearly $61,000 to develop a new website.
The agreement with Vision Technology Solutions LLC of Santa Monica, Calif., will replace the city’s 5-year-old website. Municipal websites have a lifespan of about four years, said Trish Herron, communications and marketing manager.
The new site, which is actually piggybacking on the website of Roswell, Ga., will allow Richland to post messages to several social media platforms at once, she recently told the city council.
“We’re really heavily active with our social media, and, quite honestly, our website can’t keep up with it,” she said.
Never miss a local story.
The new site is expected to be up by December, and will cost $15,600 in annual hosting and subscription services, Herron said.
