A Benton City girl diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor three years ago has died.
Bailey Marie Castillo, 5, died in Benton City on Saturday.
She was 2 when first diagnosed with a medullablastoma, a tumor that mostly afflicts children. Surgeons removed the tumor from her head, affecting her ability to walk and swallow, and she underwent chemotherapy and proton radiation sessions, but doctors found new tumors.
Community members rallied around her parents Lindsey Parr and Eddie Castillo and brother, Conner, raising thousands of dollars through the sale of bracelets and T-shirts to help cover some expenses and medical bills. Bailey was featured in the Herald in April 2014.
