West Richland City Councilman Ron Hayden is giving up his council seat.
Hayden said he and his wife are expecting their second child and he’ll be busy studying to become a member of the Special Response Team with the Hanford Patrol. He also plans to begin studying for his master’s degree next year, he said in a news release.
Hayden, who previously was a member of Rob McKenna’s steering committee for governor, said one of his long-term goals is to be more involved in the political arena.
Hayden defeated incumbent Councilman Ken Dobbin in 2011.
