A 43-year-old Cheney man who allegedly threatened another man with a gun after an argument over a basketball game faces possible second-degree assault charges.
Scott R. Duncan was booked into the Benton County jail after the Saturday night incident.
Prosecutors are reviewing possible harassment charges against his girlfriend, Morgan M. Laws, 34, of Pasco, police said.
An argument broke out about 8:10 p.m. at Kimo’s sports bar between two groups cheering for opposing teams, Richland police said.
Laws allegedly “refused to leave the neighboring table alone after repeated requests to do so” and “stated to the victims, in an expletive-filled rant, that they did not know who they were dealing with and that her ‘boyfriend will mess you up,’” a police news release said.
Duncan later returned with a semi-automatic handgun, police said.
“Duncan put the gun against the victim’s neck and threatened to kill him. A short struggle over the gun took place and Duncan fled the area,” the news release said.
The victim called police, and officers caught up to Duncan. A search of the vehicle he was in turned up ammunition, and officers found a pistol on the side of the road along the route the vehicle had taken, the news release said.
