Tri-City area drivers should remove studded tires by midnight March 31 to avoid a $124 ticket.
Driving with studded tires in Washington after March 31 is a traffic infraction, according to the state Department of Transportation. Studded tires wear down pavement faster, so removing them helps extend the lifetime of state roadways.
State officials will continue to continue to monitor roads, passes and forecast so they can clear any late season snow or ice.
Oregon has the same March 31 deadline.
