Washington State University nursing students will partner with the Tri-Cities Union Gospel Mission to collect items for local families in need from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 21 at the WSU College of Nursing facility, 1266 E. Lee Boulevard in Richland.
“Many people donate things during the holidays but the UGM needs donations year round,” said Shelby Brunson, a nursing student and one of the project leaders. “Nursing students have a keen sense of community service, and we are more than happy to help get the word out and help the UGM by collecting items.”
Donations of shoes, clothing, non-perishable food, and kitchen and bathroom items are welcome. If donors would like receipts, UGM representatives will provide them.
The students are taking the lead on the project as part of the Cougs in the Community program, a community service learning project. It provides an opportunity to WSU Tri-Cities students, faculty and other members of the community to demonstrate good citizenship.
Never miss a local story.
