The Music Machine is holding a musical instrument drive for the Boys & Girls Club from now through Christmas.
“Our goal is to donate 50 instruments to the Boys & Girls Club,” said Rick Van Heel with Music Machine. “Any instrument will be appreciated whether it’s guitars, drums, keyboards, trumpets, saxophones, orchestra instruments, et cetera. Even something as small as a triangle or harmonica. The instruments can be working or not. We will donate three guitars and a trumpet to kick it off so we’re looking for 46 more to reach our goal.”
There’s no need to fix any broken stringed instruments because Music Machine will fix all those, Van Heel said.
“Josh at the Boys & Girls Club also has outlets to fix up any brass or other instruments that are beyond our ability to repair,” Van Heel said.
Never miss a local story.
Those who donate will receive credit toward a tax write-off.
“Music was a huge influence on my life and I know how much it can mean to a child, so I want to help as many kids as I can,” he said. “If I can get even one kid off a video game to play an instrument I’ll have succeeded.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Music Machine, 212 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick, or at the Boys & Girls Club, 20 N. Benton St., Kennewick. For more information call Van Heel at 509-582-3568 or the Boys & Girls Club at 509-582-4090.
